For this series of blogs, we sat down with some of Charlotte’s team members to talk to them about their work and what drives their passion for creating healthier spaces. This week we had the chance to speak with our COO, Asquith Williams.
Can you tell us about your career path until now?
Even though I’m an executive today, I still consider myself a Chemist. After graduating from university, I went to work as a Research & Development Chemist for multinational companies before joining Charlotte as the Research & Development Manager, a short while later becoming the General Manager. Over the past two decades, I’ve worked with our talented team creating solutions to solve our customer’s many problems.
Can you tell us a little bit about what you do now as COO with Charlotte?
Today, I work closely with our Regulatory, Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Customer Care team as well as our Patents and Trademark Lawyers. In other words, I’m involved in a little bit of everything.
What is your favorite part of the job?
I absolutely love Product Development. Many people don’t realize how much science and art goes into creating a new product, one must not only be cognizant of the governmental regulations, but also where the products are used and the use directives.
Can you give us an example of how you are using creativity to solve problems?
Yes, there are so many examples, one that quickly comes to mind is working with a customer to develop a line of products that meet their strict regulatory specifications, all the while improving their cleaning efficiency, safe for use, and saving them money.
What does our mission statement, “We help people everywhere live safer and healthier lives,” mean to you?
I consider us to be pioneers in the field of certified green cleaning, we are known throughout North America as such, we’ve been at this for over 25 years, making products that are not only environmentally responsible, but safe for our customers, and theirs. So creating safer and healthier spaces is not only our mission statement, but it’s something we practice every day and I’m very proud to be a part of.
What is working at Charlotte like?
It’s a fun job!
Challenging, but at the same time rewarding, I get an opportunity to work with a great team of very talented and hardworking people, solving customers’ problems responsibly.
